Butzel Long has a distinguished history of successfully handling arbitration and litigation matters. We have participated in landmark cases beginning in the early twentieth century, where the Michigan Supreme Court acknowledged a President's ability to assert war time powers over utilities, through the present, where the United States Supreme Court ruled on the constitutionality of affirmative action policies at one of the country's top universities.

  • Engaged by a leading insurance company to analyze the direct and indirect impact of the bankruptcies of GM, Chrysler and major Tier 1 and Tier 2 auto suppliers on its insured bond portfolio
  • Successfully defended a major U.S. securities firm in a proceeding before an NASD arbitration panel; claimant sought damages based on fraud claims in connection with futures trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange
