Tyler A. Burk focuses his practice in the areas of Business, Construction, and Real Estate Law and Litigation and Dispute Resolution. He represents individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public entities in a variety of sectors.

Overview

Mr. Burk’s clients value his in-depth knowledge of the many steps of the legal process, from the early stages of consultation to preparing for trial. Long before entering practice, while still in high school and then continuing through his undergraduate and law school years, he was employed at a Central Michigan law firm where he gained invaluable experience while working his way up from filing assistant to law clerk.

Now in practice for several years, Tyler has bench and jury trial experience in numerous Michigan and federal courts in civil and criminal law cases. His expertise includes developing case strategies from pre-litigation through trial. Outside the courtroom, Tyler has significant experience in appellate and transactional drafting. Prior to joining Butzel, he practiced at a full-service Michigan law firm in matters ranging from commercial litigation to real estate law, criminal defense, and more.

Tyler is an Associate attorney practicing in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. He earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School (summa cum laude) where he was on the Dean’s List and Honor Roll for all terms. He earned his Bachelor of Science, Sociology (concentration in Social and Criminal Justice) (cum laude) from Central Michigan University (CMU), where he was also on the Dean’s List and Honor Roll. While at CMU, Tyler was a member of Alpha Kapa Delta, International Sociology Honors Society.

Outside of his career, Tyler’s hobbies include traveling and cooking. He enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and his Australian Shepherd, Margo.
