David J. DeVine focuses his practice in the areas of business litigation and bankruptcy. For nearly 20 years, business clients have sought his counsel in a wide array of industries, including automotive, construction, banking, health care, and real estate.

Overview

As a member of Butzel’s Automotive Industry Team, David DeVine concentrates a significant part of his practice on representing clients in high-stakes, multi-million-dollar contract disputes and supply chain matters, particularly those involving pricing, warranty, and tooling issues. He counsels suppliers of all tiers and of all sizes on contract terms, litigation avoidance, and dispute resolution strategies.

In addition to his experience representing automotive clients, Mr. DeVine is also a member of the firm’s Construction Specialty Team. He provides strategic counsel to general contractors, subcontractors, and to owners of construction businesses of all sizes. When litigation cannot be avoided, he tenaciously represents clients in courts and administrative agencies across Michigan and beyond.

Possessing multifaceted experience across industries, Mr. DeVine also represents clients in complex trade secret and non-compete cases, shareholder disputes, and high-value insurance coverage litigation. His experience extends to representing clients in federal and state courts and in arbitration tribunals.

Mr. Devine is a Shareholder practicing in the firm’s Troy office. He has been recognized throughout his career by numerous respected legal publications for his experience in business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy, creditor/debtor rights, and Construction Law. He frequently serves as a presenter sharing his knowledge with industry professionals and other lawyers.
