Overview

Butzel is committed to providing superior legal services to Minority Business Enterprises (MBE). The members of our Minority Business practice possess significant experience in organizing and structuring MBEs and in assisting these entities to obtain Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) certification.

The MMBDC is a privately funded, non-profit corporate services organization dedicated to facilitating business relationships and procurement opportunities among MMBDC-certified MBEs and corporate members. Butzel has been an active corporate member of MMBDC since 1992 and is proud to support its mission and goals.

Our clients depend on the collective experience of the Minority Business Enterprise Specialty Team when structuring joint venture entities, strategic alliances, and other relationships among MBEs and other businesses. Butzel’s attorneys apply their specialized expertise in areas such as commercial lending and labor and employment law to address the needs inherent to minority-owned businesses. We’re prepared to leverage the full range of legal services Butzel has to offer to counsel small and large MBEs in a variety of business scenarios.

In addition to Butzel's active support and participation in networking and fundraising events, the Firm operates and participates in a Supplier Diversity Program through which our purchases from MBEs are increased. Butzel also participates in MMBDC's Project One, an initiative in which certified minority-owned businesses and corporate members are organized into modules in order to better interact and provide procurement opportunities for MBEs.
