Heather Muir, Butzel Long Photo

Heather Muir’s experience includes preparation of documents pertinent to a variety of corporate transactions. She collaborates with the attorneys in Butzel’s Corporate Department to provide clients with valuable services and business solutions.

Overview

Heather was previously a Summer Associate at Butzel, assisting attorneys throughout the firm in a wide range of specialties. Prior to joining Butzel, she worked as a law clerk at a full-service law firm that specializes in Estate Planning, Business Law, Municipal Law, and Education Law where client representation ranged from individuals and small businesses to municipalities and charter schools. 

Before law school, Heather explored the realm of Immigration Law while working as a Case Manager. In this role, she assisted attorneys in handling matters involving cancellation of removal and asylum applications for individuals and their families as well as a wide range of business immigration matters.   

Heather received her juris doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. During her time in law school, Heather was an active leader in several student organizations and co-founded the University’s Cyber and Privacy Law Student Association. She also participated in the University of Detroit Mercy’s Immigration Law and International Intellectual Property Law clinic programs where she assisted attorneys in providing pro-bono legal services to members of the community. 

Heather received her bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College, majoring in Economics. While there, she competed on the NCAA Women’s Collegiate Golf Team and studied at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan.  

When she’s not working, Heather enjoys staying active through golf and yoga. Heather's interests extend to learning languages, as she has native fluency Portuguese and Spanish and is conversationally proficient in French and Japanese.
