Heather Muir focuses her practice primarily on mergers and acquisitions, employee benefits, and international trade law. She is recognized for providing clients with responsive and thorough legal advice that results in achieving their business goals.

Overview

In the area of Corporate Law, Heather collaborates closely within Butzel’s Corporate and Finance Team to deliver high-quality results tailored to each client’s distinct needs. Drawing on her legal research and document review experience, she crafts agreements and other legal instruments utilized to execute diverse corporate transactions in a variety of sectors.

In her practice as a member of the firm’s International Trade and Customs Specialty Team, Heather guides clients through the complexities of international trade law matters through careful research and analysis of each client’s unique issues.

Prior to joining Butzel, Heather gained valuable legal experience as a law clerk at a full-service law firm specializing in business and municipal law. She has also worked as a legal assistant supporting attorneys in the handling of matters involving a wide range of business and family immigration matters.

Heather earned her juris doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where she was an active leader in several student organizations. Heather holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kalamazoo College, where she competed on the NCAA Women’s Collegiate Golf Team and studied abroad in Kyoto, Japan.

When she’s not working, Heather enjoys staying active through golf and yoga. Heather's interests extend to learning languages, as she has native fluency Portuguese and Spanish and is conversationally proficient in French and Japanese.
