Butzel Elects New Shareholders
DETROIT, Mich. – Five Butzel attorneys were recently elected shareholders. They include: Steven R. Eatherly, Amany Kasham, Garett Koger, Sarah L. Nirenberg and Quendale G. Simmons.
Steven R. Eatherly
Based in Butzel’s Detroit office, Steven Eatherly focuses his practice in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Group, serving businesses, municipalities, and individuals.
Eatherly is a member of the Federalist Society – Michigan Lawyers Chapter, Communications Chair, Oakland County Bar Association and State Bar of Michigan.
He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America - Ones to Watch - Commercial Litigation, 2024, Michigan Super Lawyers, Rising Stars - Business Litigation, 2023.
Eatherly earned a (J.D., 2016) magna cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He received a B.A., 2013) in history, summa cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy.
Amany Kasham
Amany Kasham, based in the firm’s Detroit office, specializes in business immigration (nonimmigrant and immigrant), family immigration, investor visas, consular practice, global migration, employer sanctions, waivers and inadmissibility issues, and citizenship and naturalization (including eligibility based on military service).
She has been named to DBusiness magazine’s Top Lawyers in Metro Detroit, Immigration Law, 2022-2023 and to Michigan Super Lawyers, Rising Stars, 2022, 2023.
Kasham is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan. She also is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and AILA Michigan Chapter.
She is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Law (J.D., 2014) and Eastern Michigan University (B.A. in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies, 2005).
Garett Koger
Based in Butzel’s Lansing office, Garett Koger focuses his practice on commercial litigation, governmental regulation, and election law throughout Michigan. His practice includes complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts.
Koger provides counsel to political candidates on election law and campaign matters. His litigation experience includes service as an assistant attorney general for the state of Michigan and as a chief assistant prosecutor at the county level.
He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and Federalist Society. Prior to his legal career, Koger served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Koger earned a (J.D., 2017) Michigan State University College of Law. He is a graduate of The Citadel – The Military College of South Carolina (B.A. cum laude, 2013).
Sarah L. Nirenberg
Sarah Nirenberg, based in Butzel’s Troy office, specializes in representing employers for litigation in all areas of employment law, including statutory claims under federal and state law for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and payment of wages. She advises employers on various matters where the law is constantly evolving, such as employment applications, arbitration agreements, and workplace drug policies.
Nirenberg formerly served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association,

Quendale G. Simmons
Based in Butzel’s Detroit office, Quendale Simmons focuses his practice on Business and Commercial Litigation. He represents businesses in complex business disputes and advises clients regarding their business legal needs.
Prior to joining Butzel, his practice included the representation of corporations and individuals in civil litigation disputes involving personal, property, and casualty insurance claims.
Simmons earned a (J.D., 2013) from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he served as the Business Editor for I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society. He graduated with a (B.A., 2010) with High Distinction, from the University of Michigan.
