Butzel Long attorney featured during several key speaking opportunities this fall

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Claudia Rast is a speaker in demand. She is the sole speaker on the topic of cybersecurity at the Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) Summit on September 25 in Chicago. The title of her presentation is, “Defending Against Cyber Threats.”

Next, she will be one of three panelists to discuss the ethical and technological perils of being a “road warrior” during the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources 21st Fall Conference on October 10 in Baltimore.

In addition, Rast will speak during the 12th Annual Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) Family Law Institute on November 15 in Novi. She will discuss the growing ethical obligations of lawyers using technology. Her presentation is titled, “ESI, Document Security and Ethical Obligation.”

Further, she will contribute a guest article on cybersecurity and critical infrastructures for Trends, the bi-monthly magazine for the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources.

Based in Butzel Long’s Ann Arbor office, Rast has extensive experience counseling clients both large and small on issues related to business and technology, particularly online and web-based companies. She blends the study of law, business, and technology to assist companies in their choice and use of technology. 

As a Board Member and counsel to the Clean Energy Coalition (CEC), Rast developed the legal framework for the DOE’s $15M grant to the CEC for the Michigan Green Fleets project. She also serves on the Boards of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters and Ann Arbor’s New Enterprise Forum, where she coaches technology start-ups in their efforts to connect with management expertise, venture capital, and business partners.
Rast is a frequent speaker on matters ranging from Electronic Discovery and Online Advertising, to Social Media in the Workplace and Cybersecurity.
