FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long attorney Joseph E. Richotte will be a featured speaker during a Criminal Justice Act Panel Attorney’s seminar hosted by the Federal Defender Office for the Eastern District of Michigan on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. The seminar is an annual program designed to provide an overview to defense attorneys on the latest trends and important topics in the criminal law. Mr. Richotte will present during a session titled, “Organizing the Large Paper Case in the Digital Age.”

“The digital age has dramatically impacted the practice of law, including the way that criminal cases are prosecuted and defended. Attorneys must stay current with technology and how it is used in their clients’ lives so that they will know where to look for electronic evidence and how to obtain it. It is equally as important that attorneys know how to effectively analyze and organize large amounts of electronic evidence so they can best develop and present their clients’ cases. This seminar will be a great way for defense attorneys to learn useful updates and tips about acquiring and organizing electronic records,” said Mr. Richotte.

Based in Butzel Long’s Detroit office, Mr. Richotte practices in the areas of white collar criminal defense, Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement actions, corporate investigations, and professional discipline matters for lawyers and judges. He has represented individuals and corporations under investigation for, or charged with, antitrust violations, securities fraud, misappropriating trade secrets, violations of federal international traffic-in-arms regulations, public corruption, healthcare fraud, drug prosecutions against doctors, environmental fraud, embezzlement, and professional ethical misconduct. Mr. Richotte also counsels clients on grand jury investigations, subpoenas, and search warrants.
