Yasmeen Farran focuses her practice on Immigration Law. She provides counsel on matters including citizenship, green cards, temporary visas, and employer compliance, while delivering legal guidance tailored to each client’s individual needs. Ms. Farran also has experience representing clients in Tribal Law matters.

Overview

Helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complexities of US immigration law with clarity and care is important to Ms. Farran. Whether securing family-based visas or managing employment-related petitions such as H-1B, L-1, E-2, O-1, TN (NAFTA Professionals), or National Interest Waivers, she works closely with clients to develop strategies tailored to their goals. Ms. Farran also assists with immigrant and nonimmigrant waivers and provides dedicated representation in asylum matters—offering compassionate support through each stage of the process.

In her Tribal Law practice, Yasmeen Farran has experience reviewing legal issues involving Federally Recognized Tribes to identify and address potential tribal law considerations. This broader perspective allows her to provide clients with well-rounded, informed counsel on matters that may cross into multiple legal frameworks.

Ms. Farran is an Associate practicing in Butzel’s Detroit office. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Immigration, American Indian Law, and Young Lawyers Sections and serves as a Council Member of the American Indian Law Section.

Yasmeen Farran earned her juris doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, where she received the Indigenous Law Scholarship and was an associate editor of the Michigan State International Law Review. She also worked in Michigan State University’s Immigration Clinic and the Immigration Law Clinic at St. Vincent Catholic Charities where she successfully prepared clients for naturalization, filed applications with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and represented clients in Immigration Court. Ms. Farran also completed Michigan State University’s esteemed Indigenous Law Certificate Program where she had the privilege of taking a variety of Indian law classes and participated in the Indian Law Clinic. Ms. Farran received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan, where she was recognized as a James B. Angell Scholar.
