Claudia Dionne is an experienced Immigration Paralegal and Spanish Translator. She is a Paralegal in Butzel’s Immigration Department and located in the firm’s Detroit office. She is a citizen of three countries (United States, Australia, and Mexico). Having lived on three continents, she understands the immigration process first-hand, and the cultural shock and learning curve immigrants encounter. Ms. Dionne has considerable experience not only as a paralegal, but also possesses experience as an executive assistant at high corporate levels and was an English as a Second Language (ESL) editor and teacher for nearly two decades.

In her current role, Ms. Dionne works on a high volume of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Consular, and Port of Entry (POE) matters processing nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processing (NIV and IV) cases. She evaluates matters for the attorney of record and works closely with the firm’s Immigration clients to answer clients’ non-legal questions (in English and Spanish). She previously held the position of Immigration Paralegal at a large national labor and employment firm where she worked on a high volume of NIV and IV cases as well.

Ms. Dionne received her Bachelor of Science, Legal Support and Services from Purdue University Global (summa cum laude). She holds credentials as a Certified Translation Professional, Language Interpretation and Translation from Global Translation Institute and a Content and Language Integrated Learning Certificate, ESL Teaching from the University of Cambridge. She also possesses CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from the University of Cambridge.

An advocate for all children affected by sexual abuse, Ms. Dionne is training to volunteer as a Community Educator concerning the lasting impacts of childhood sexual abuse through the nonprofit, Saprea Foundation, to educate and engage parents and caregivers to protect children from sexual abuse in all forms through community and online resources.
