Five Butzel Long attorneys named for the first time to The Best Lawyers in America® 2010

DETROIT, Mich. – Five Butzel Long attorneys have been named for the first time to The Best Lawyers in America® 2010 edition. The attorneys include D. Stewart Green, Steven M. Ribiat, Herbert C. Donovan, Carl Rashid, Jr., and James S. Rosenfeld.

First published in 1983, Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive annual peer-review survey. Butzel Long – Bloomfield Hills office D. Stewart Green (Real Estate Law) – Mr. Green is a shareholder and manager of the firm's Real Estate Practice. He has extensive experience in all areas of real property practice. He has represented numerous clients in major sales and purchases of real estate, lenders and borrowers in loan transactions, purchasers and developers in condominium developments, and landlords and tenants in leasing transactions.

Mr. Green has been involved in numerous mortgage loan workouts and foreclosures on behalf of major commercial lenders and has litigated the enforcement of loan documents, including representing lenders in bankruptcy matters.

Steven M. Ribiat (Commercial Litigation) – Mr. Ribiat is a shareholder and practice group leader of the firm's Business Litigation Group. Mr. Ribiat has extensive experience representing clients in corporate business litigation, including shareholder and contractual disputes and real estate disputes.

Mr. Ribiat has substantial experience in securities litigation, including regulatory enforcement actions, and internal corporate investigations and compliance issues. Mr. Ribiat also represents clients in professional responsibility matters and counsels on matters of ethics.

Herbert C. Donovan (Personal Injury Litigation) Mr. Donovan, shareholder, has focused his practice on complex commercial litigation, product liability defense (as national and regional counsel), product safety and automotive regulatory issues and throughout his career. His most extensive experience is in the defense and prosecution of litigation (including commercial, warranty, recall and product liability disputes) involving suppliers to automobile manufacturers.

Mr. Donovan has successfully defended design and manufacturing defect claims related to automotive brake and anti-lock brake systems, fuel systems, and tires as well as rollover and crashworthiness claims. He has litigated and arbitrated commercial disputes between suppliers and manufacturers and has substantial experience litigating UCC claims.

Carl Rashid, Jr. (Real Estate Law, Tax Law) – Mr. Rashid is a shareholder and serves on Butzel Long's Board of Directors as a Vice President.

Mr. Rashid's areas of practice include real estate, state and local taxes, investment related tax incentives, condemnation law and government affairs matters.

James S. Rosenfeld (Labor and Employment Law) James S. Rosenfeld, shareholder, practices in the area of labor and employment law. He serves as the manager of Butzel Long's Labor and Employment Practice Group.

Mr. Rosenfeld has extensive experience in litigating a wide variety of labor and employment cases, including trial and appellate work in both state and federal court. He also has experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and handling labor arbitrations and hearings before the National Labor Relations Board.
