Butzel Long sponsors Ninth Annual U of D Mercy Titan Athletic Club’s Basketball Camp for Special Needs Kids on June 20 in Detroit
DETROIT, Mich. – Exercise, team-building and fun are advantages of youth sports. Accordingly, the University of Detroit Mercy Titan Athletic Club is hosting its Ninth Annual Basketball Camp for special needs players from 9 a.m. to Noon on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the historic Calihan Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy. Butzel Long law firm is a sponsor of this year’s event.
The one-day clinic is for any special needs players (all abilities are welcome) ages 12 & older to learn and develop basketball skills. Athletes with trainable mental impairment (TMI), educatable mental impairment (EMI) and other developmental or physical disabilities are encouraged to participate.
“We developed this clinic for special needs kids to help them develop fundamental basketball skills,” said Bernard (Bernie) J. Fuhs, Vice President, Butzel Long and a former Titan basketball standout, Titan Club member and U of D Mercy Alum. “The kids have a blast! It’s a fun way for them to build confidence and learn basketball skills that they can practice throughout the summer.
“This event is a highlight of the year for the Titan Athletic Club members, Titan coaches, players, and alumni,” added Fuhs. “At the same time, Butzel Long is a proud sponsor. Our firm has a long and strong history of community involvement in the city of Detroit.”
The clinic puts all participants through various drills before ending with a scrimmage. The fee is $15 per student, which includes a camp T-shirt and tour of Calihan Hall.
Parents/ guardians are welcome to stay and watch. A camp-parent room will be available.
