Audit Committee Institute Roundtable: Economic Crisis, Uncertainty, and Change – A New Era of Governance and Oversight is the focus for the program

DETROIT, Mich. – In light of the economic crisis and unprecedented uncertainty, companies and boards are taking stock of the changes impacting their businesses, their industry, and the economic environment, and adjusting their strategies and operations accordingly. Oversight today is different than it was a year or two ago. The demands on boards and audit committees have increased substantially because of the gravity and urgency of the situation.

Whether it is the nature of the audit committee's interactions with management, the discussions at executive sessions, or the review of disclosures and earnings releases, audit committees and boards are applying greater focus and intensity to their oversight activities.

Butzel Long and KPMG are hosting an Executive Briefing from 7:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Townsend Hotel at 100 Townsend Street in Birmingham.

The moderator for the event is Sanjay Gupta, Professor and Chair, Department of Accounting and Information Systems, Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. The panelists include: Justin Klimko, attorney, Butzel Long Jeffrey Craig, CFO and Senior Vice President, Arvin Meritor and Bob Dillon, KPMG
