Butzel Long Women’s Leadership Committee participates in Cereal Drive with Gleaners Food Bank and Children’s Hospital of Michigan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DETROIT, Mich. – The Butzel Long Women’s Leadership Committee is participating in a Cereal Drive along with Gleaners Food Bank and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Butzel Long will accept donations of cereal, including oatmeal, at any of the firm’s offices through Friday, June 8, 2012.

“We first learned about the Cereal Drive during the Gleaners Annual Power Breakfast and decided at that moment that we wanted to help,” said Debra Geroux, attorney, Butzel Long, who is spearheading the project on behalf of the Butzel Long Women’s Leadership Committee with senior attorney Angela Emmerling Boufford. “Cereal is one of the more expensive food items that goes the furthest. Everyone goes to the grocery store so it is very easy to add another box of cereal or two to the shopping cart to benefit the Cereal Drive.”

In Southeast Michigan alone, more than 314,000 free or reduced-fee meals are served every school day. With the help of Gleaners’ supporters, children who might otherwise go hungry during the summer will have access to nutritious food.

“Paying it forward and giving back to the community is important,” added Ms. Geroux. “I was so impressed by the Cereal Drive that I shared the idea with my fellow PTA executive board members in Wixom. As a result, one of our local elementary schools is collecting cereal as well for the Cereal Drive through Tuesday, June 5, 2012.”

Butzel Long has a long and distinguished history of public service. Throughout the year, Butzel Long attorneys are active in the communities where they live and work.
