Beth Gotthelf and Bill Eshelman of Butzel Long will present an overview of the current state U.S. Export Control Regulation now that a substantial number of Munitions List items have been transferred from the responsibility of the State Department to Commerce, pursuant to the current Export Control Reform (ECR) initiative.
This presentation is particularly timely as the ECR currently is in its latter stages of implementation, and any previous tensions that may have existed between the licensing regimes of the two Departments is becoming less frequent as a consequence.
Bill Eshelman is a Shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Washington D.C. office. Mr. Eshelman's legal practice focuses on performance and cost accounting-related issues in government, construction and commercial contract litigation. He represents clients before the Boards of Contract Appeals, the Court of Federal Claims, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, various U.S. District Courts, state courts and administrative agencies on items such as proposal preparation; warranty issues; exercise of options; negotiation of contracts; and modifications involving defense, aerospace and postal contracting.
Beth Gotthelf is a Shareholder based in Butzel Long's Bloomfield Hills office. She is the firm's Director of Innovation and External Relations, Co-Chair of the Energy & Sustainability practice, and the Chair of the Aerospace & Defense industry team. Ms. Gotthelf represents and counsels a diverse mix of clients in numerous matters throughout the country. These matters include compliance and permitting; alternative energy issues; responding to an emergency; siting new facilities; state and federal civil and criminal enforcement; compliance audits; brownfields; tax incentives (obtaining, selling, purchasing); remediation of contaminated sites; Planned Unit Developments (PUDs); removal of underground storage tanks; Superfund (state and federal); insurance claims; administrative procedures; solid and hazardous waste; landfills; composting; occupational safety and health; transportation; and land use.
