Personal Jurisdiction Based On Domestic Subsidiaries

In 2014 the Supreme Court issued a landmark case in the realm of personal jurisdiction. Daimler AG v. Bauman strictly limited the circumstances in which a court may assert general personal jurisdiction "only when the corporation's affiliations with the State in which suit is brought are so constant and pervasive 'as to render {it] essentially at home in the forum State.'" For a corporation, the "paradigm" home states are "the place of incorporation and the principal place of business."
