Three Butzel Long attorneys recognized in survey as a 2010 FIVE STAR Wealth Manager

W. Patrick Dreisig

W. Patrick Dreisig is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long’s Bloomfield Hills office, where he is co-chair of the firm’s Global Automotive Industry Group and a member of the firm’s Business Law Practice. Mr. Dreisig focuses his practice in general business law and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, recapitalizations, debt and equity finance transactions, venture capital transactions, supply agreements, intellectual property development and licensing transactions, customer and supplier workouts, entity selection and formation, corporate governance and business succession.

Mr. Dreisig practices extensively within the automotive supplier industry. He is highly experienced in representing automotive suppliers in structuring and negotiating long term supply and other commercial arrangements with automotive manufacturers and other suppliers.

Richard A. Shapack

Richard A. Shapack is Of Counsel to Butzel Long, practicing in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office. His practice is concentrated in business law, tax, real estate and estate planning with special emphasis on business and tax planning.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has been certified (since 1983) by the Florida Bar as a Board Certified Tax Lawyer. In 2006, he was named in the first listing of Michigan Super Lawyers and has been named again in each subsequent year. In addition to the practice of law, for over 30 years, Mr. Shapack has been actively involved in the acquisition, development, ownership and management of real estate ventures.

David W. Sommerfeld

David W. Sommerfeld is a shareholder based in Butzel Long’s Bloomfield Hills office practicing in the areas of estate planning, probate, and trust administration. He also has experience in the areas of income tax, estate and gift tax, and related tax and financial matters. He serves as manager of the firm’s Probate, Trust and Estate Planning Practice. He is a Certified Public Accountant as well as an attorney. Mr. Sommerfeld is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in American Law, and Michigan Super Lawyers.
