The Legalities of Doing Business with the Federal Government will be discussed on May 9 in Sterling Heights

DETROIT, Mich. – Southeast Michigan businesses have a rare opportunity to gain important insight on doing business with the federal government from a Washington, D.C.-based attorney from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Macomb-OU INCubator at the Velocity Collaboration Center, located at 6633 Eighteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights.

Butzel Long Tighe Patton attorney Bill Eshelman will discuss “The Legalities of Doing Business with the Federal Government.” During the workshop, Mr. Eshelman will discuss:

  • Significant contrasts between commercial and federal acquisitions
  • Principal areas of federal contracting and related authority of federal personnel affecting each
  • Common and potentially deadly areas confusion and,
  • A few best practices

About Bill Eshelman

In his more than four decades of legal practice, Mr. Eshelman has held responsible positions at the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, and several major federal agencies with responsibilities that include the full range of federal contracting. Mr. Eshelman is a partner with Butzel Long Tighe Patton in Washington, D.C. (Butzel Long also is a member of the Washington D.C. law firm, Butzel Long Tighe Patton).

Most recently, he has been involved in major programs, as well as more routine subcontractor and supplier disputes. Thus, he has seen the industry from nearly all angles, which uniquely situates his perspective when advising clients.

Mr. Eshelman frequently teaches in the areas of law, federal contracting and business. He currently holds the position of Lead Faculty/Area Chair for Business Law and Ethics for the University of Phoenix, where he also routinely teaches in the undergraduate business and MBA Programs, where he is active in curriculum development. Mr. Eshelman holds a specialized law degree (LLM) in Government Procurement from George Washington University, in Washington, D.C.
