Philip J. Kessler is Chairman of Butzel Long and is a member of the firm's Board of Directors. He is based in the firm's Detroit office. Mr. Kessler concentrates on the prosecution and defense of a wide variety of business disputes on behalf of individuals, partnerships, and private and public corporations. Areas in which Mr. Kessler has had significant experience include anti-trust litigation, audit malpractice, bankruptcy litigation, contract litigation, corporate control contests and derivative claims, distributorship litigation, false advertising claims, health care and pharmaceutical counseling and litigation intellectual property litigation (including copyright, trademark, trade secrets and unfair competition and patent infringement claims), intra-corporate and partnership disputes, merger and acquisition related litigation, probate and trust litigation and securities fraud claims.

Richard E. Rassel is past Chairman and CEO of Butzel Long. He is currently Director of Global Client Relations and serves on the firm's Board of Directors. Based in the firm’s Detroit office, Mr. Rassel practices primarily in the area of complex business litigation and arbitration with a special concentration in media law. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1989 and is a graduate of the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution Mediation and Arbitration Training Program.

James C. Adams is a shareholder based in the firm's Ann Arbor office. Mr. Adams' substantial practice experience includes representation of developers, lenders, architects, construction contractors and construction managers, public and private corporations, municipalities and public agencies, in connection with all aspects of real estate, including: acquisition public and private financing tax incentives and other economic inducements affordable housing development condominium structuring and development, land use and zoning distressed project work-outs construction of municipal, commercial, and residential projects selling, leasing, and otherwise disposing of property and funding, construction, operation, and maintenance of urban transit systems.

Stephen A. Bromberg is Counsel to Butzel Long and based in the firm's Bloomfield Hills office. He served as a Director and President of Butzel Long. Mr. Bromberg has represented borrowers and institutional lenders, purchasers and sellers, non-profit entities and contractors and owners in all kinds of office, commercial shopping center, apartment and subdivisions matters, and major construction and zoning matters and workouts, reorganizations and foreclosures, in years of specialization in real estate transactions and litigation.

Robert G. Buydens is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit office. Mr. Buydens concentrates his practice in the area of employee benefits including preparation of pension, money purchase, employee stock purchase, and profit sharing plans for individuals, partnerships, corporations and multiple-employer organizations, as well as the preparation of master plans for profit and non-profit corporations. He has substantial experience in providing advice on and drafting welfare benefit plans, including self-funded health care plans, flexible benefit plans, disability plans, and life insurance plans. He is experienced in executive compensation which includes the preparation of deferred compensation plans, management incentive plans, bonus plans and stock option plans.

Arthur Dudley II is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit and New York offices. Mr. Dudley specializes in securities law, mergers and acquisitions, representation of emerging growth companies, executive compensation, and general corporate representation. Mr. Dudley has practiced law for 30 years and has extensive experience in nearly all aspects of corporate law. He has had primary responsibility for securities matters (including investment company representation and public offerings), mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and a variety of other matters, including general counsel work, executive compensation, joint ventures and strategic alliances.

David F. DuMouchel is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit office and chairs the firm's Corporate Compliance, Internal Investigations and Criminal Defense practice. Mr. DuMouchel's practice is limited to white collar criminal defense, professional licensure and criminal health care, criminal IRS investigations of both taxpayers and professionals, SEC enforcement of corporate executives, public corruption, as well as grand jury investigations, internal corporate investigations and compliance. He has particular expertise in the Clery Act regarding safety and security on campus at higher education institutions. Mr. DuMouchel's Clery Act practice includes auditing/reviewing compliance, U.S. Department of Education program reviews, development of compliance processes, procedures and programs, and internal investigations of campus security compliance.

John P. Hancock, Jr. is a shareholder based in Butzel Long's Detroit office. Mr. Hancock's practice focuses on collective bargaining negotiations and arbitrations as well as counseling of both public and private employers. He also has done extensive employment litigation and OSHA litigation. Mr. Hancock has served as chief negotiator in numerous collective bargaining negotiations for public schools, municipal and public utilities as well as clients in various other businesses ranging from casinos to steel plants to hospitals and country clubs. A good portion of his practice is devoted to counseling clients on employment issues.

Justin G. Klimko is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit office. Mr. Klimko has extensive experience in securities regulation, corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and general corporate matters, fields in which he has practiced since 1980. Mr. Klimko has substantial experience in securities regulation matters for publicly and privately held companies.

Edward M. Kronk is a shareholder based in Butzel Long's Detroit office and is past Co-Chair of the firm's Litigation Department. Mr. Kronk's practice has been devoted principally to litigation with emphasis on product liability defense and commercial litigation. Mr. Kronk is a member of the panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association and has served as an arbitrator in both commercial and insurance cases for the Association. He also has served as a special mediator in Michigan Circuit Court mediation. In addition, Mr. Kronk is a member of the firm's Global Automotive Team and has substantial experience advising automotive suppliers on government compliance and warranty issues.

Leonard M. Niehoff is a shareholder based in Butzel Long's Ann Arbor office. Mr. Niehoff has substantial experience in litigation involving media law, higher education law, civil rights, constitutional law, First Amendment, business, and employment issues. Mr. Niehoff has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School, the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, and the Wayne State University Law School, and is the author of more than one hundred articles, book chapters, and other publications.

James S. Rosenfeld is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit office. Mr. Rosenfeld practices in the area of labor and employment law and he serves as the manager of Butzel Long's Labor and Employment Practice Group. He has extensive experience in litigating a wide variety of labor and employment cases, including trial and appellate work in both state and federal court. He also has experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and handling labor arbitrations and hearings before the National Labor Relations Board.

James E. Stewart is a shareholder based in Butzel Long's Ann Arbor office and serves as Chair of the firm's Litigation Department. Mr. Stewart has over twenty-five years experience handling intellectual property matters, media law issues and commercial litigation. He recently has handled litigation concerning trade secret misappropriation and breach of confidentiality provisions in the automotive supplier sector.

Daniel B. Tukel is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Detroit office and serves as Chair of the firm's Labor and Employment Law Department. Mr. Tukel's practice is devoted to representing both public and private employers in state and federal discrimination and wrongful discharge litigation, as well as traditional labor matters such as collective bargaining and union organizational drives.
