Eric Mathis featured at Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law's 19th Annual Spring Symposia in Washington DC

DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long associate attorney Eric M. Mathis will be a featured speaker at the American Bar Association, Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law's 19th Annual Spring Symposia on May 1, 2008 in Washington, D.C. Mr. Mathis will participate in a presentation titled, "Subprime Mortgage Meltdown – Turning Down the Heat."

Mr. Mathis practices primarily in the area of litigation, with experience in product liability, automotive issues and real estate litigation.

Mr. Mathis is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers' Board of Directors, the Wolverine Bar Association and the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association. He serves as Secretary of the Real Estate and Probate Law Section of the National Bar Association and as the Chair-Elect of the National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), Section of Litigation, and is a Committee Vice-Chair of the Real Property Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the ABA, Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law.

Mr. Mathis graduated from the University of Michigan (B.A., 1996) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D., 2002), where he wrote for The Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law and Policy and served as Vice-President of the Black Law Students Association, coordinating the High School Moot Court Competition and the Street Law Clinic. He is a resident of Southfield.
