Butzel Long law firm hosts program/ webinar on Cybersecurity – Threats, Responses and Best Practices on February 18 in Detroit

2.9.2015

DETROIT, Mich. – Few companies can operate efficiently without computers, mobile devices and the networks to connect them. Yet many companies and professionals conduct their business without the basic protections and training critical to minimizing cyber intrusions.

Butzel Long is hosting the first in a boot camp series of complimentary programs/ webinars from 7:15 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at its office located at 150 West Jefferson, Suite 100 in Detroit.

The event will feature:

• Claudia Rast, Attorney and Shareholder, Butzel Long, who focuses her practice on business and technology;
• Scott Bailey, Partner, N1 Discovery; and,
• Stew Nelson, Senior Risk Advisor, Kapnick Insurance Group

Participants will gain insight into the world of cybersecurity. Presenters will share best practices, information on new detection tools, a roadmap for what to do when the inevitable happens, and the specific types of cyber liability protections that businesses should make part of their standard insurance portfolio.

“Individuals and businesses can achieve some level of protection and risk mitigation with a clear-eyed approach to the issues,” said Rast. “Taking a ‘if I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist’ approach will not work. Information sharing is a huge need across private business and the government.

“Having massive amounts of digital information at one’s fingertips is both a marvel and a recipe for disaster,” she added. “The reality and costs of the risks are becoming part of the daily news cycle, as cyber threats increase in scope and damage.”
