DETROIT, Mich. –  Butzel Long attorneys Ziyad I. Hermiz and Danielle J. Hessell received awards during the Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc.’s First Annual Laddy’s Pro Bono Awards Ceremony on November 3 in Detroit.  “The Laddys” were presented to attorneys, law firms and others for their exceptional volunteer service through the Private Attorney Involvement Program.

“I am grateful and honored to receive this award, but all of the credit really goes to LADA and Butzel Long for providing the platform and support that allows me to assist pro bono clients,” said Mr. Hermiz.  “The true reward comes from the satisfaction in knowing you helped someone when others either could not or simply refused to do so.”

Mr. Hermiz and Ms. Hessell were among a select group of attorneys who demonstrated a strong commitment to pro bono service and performed more than 50 hours of pro bono legal service in the last year.

“LADA is a wonderful organization that constantly serves people who would not otherwise have access to legal resources,” said Ms. Hessell.  “The work I have done for pro bono clients has been among the most rewarding of my career, and I am grateful to LADA and to Butzel Long for fostering those opportunities.”
