Butzel Long attorney is one of 50 breast cancer survivors to be honored during half-time ceremony at October 24 Detroit Pistons game

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – Butzel Long associate attorney Karen Pilat is one of 50 breast cancer survivors who will be honored at a half-time ceremony during the October 24 Detroit Pistons game. Ms. Pilat was nominated by her husband and selected to participate in the ceremony. The ceremony is held in conjunction with National City, a supporter of breast cancer awareness.

The group of breast cancer survivors also were invited to attend a special community forum presented by the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Institute on October 23.

Ms. Pilat concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial and real estate litigation, environmental law, criminal law and appeals, child protection matters, and PPO enforcement. Prior to joining Butzel Long, Ms. Pilat was an assistant prosecuting attorney with the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. She has tried more than 100 criminal and civil cases in the Michigan district, probate, family, and circuit courts specializing in crimes against children. As a former diversion investigator with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, she participated in administrative and federal civil and criminal proceedings regarding health care professionals.
