WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Ira E. Hoffman, will present a Public Contracting Institute (PCI) online course on the topic of export controls from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

This workshop is intended to provide an in-depth understanding of the compliance rules that apply to companies involved in producing and/or exporting goods, services and/or technology that are subject to U.S. export controls, and to help participants craft or update compliance plans. Participants are eligible for continuing education credits, specifically 5 CLE/ .50 CEU/ 6 CPE (Accounting - Governmental) credits may be earned for this course. This course is recommended for 5 CLP credits. Based in Butzel Long’s Washington, D.C. office, Hoffman focuses his practice on government contracts, international law, commercial litigation and cybersecurity law and policy. He has more than 30 years’ experience in international contracting, and his cybersecurity practice focuses on liability for security breaches, M&A due diligence, government investigations, and strategies for mitigating cyber risk.

Hoffman also is a Director of the Public Contracting Institute, and a frequent lecturer on small business contracting and subcontracting, plus the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions. Moreover, he taught International Trade Law and European Union Law at the George Mason University School of Law.

Hoffman earned his J.D. degree (cum laude) from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was an editor on the Law Review; earned an M.Sc (Econ) from the London School of Economics, where he also taught; and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
