Butzel Long attorney Gary Klotz to discuss NLRB Update for Union and Non-Union Employers during American Society of Employers program on January 20, 2012

DETROIT, Mich. –  Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Gary W. Klotz will be the featured speaker during the Positive Employer-Employee Relations Roundtable presented by the American Society of Employers on January 20, 2012.  Mr. Klotz will provide an NLRB update for Union and Non-Union Employers.

“In 2011, the National Labor Relations Board became one of the most controversial federal agencies.  The NLRB, as employers view it, pushed its pro-union agenda by adopting revised election rules that will help unions win more elections and a new requirement that all employers – union and non-union – post a notice about employees’ rights to unionize,” said Mr. Klotz.  “In January 2012, President Obama made three controversial “recess” appointments to the NLRB that will ensure a 3 to 2 Democratic majority through 2013.”

Mr. Klotz has represented employers in labor and employment law matters for more than 30 years.  He has successfully defended employers in state and federal courts, as well as before state and federal administrative agencies.  He also has extensive experience representing employers in labor arbitration cases, collective bargaining negotiations, and preventive employee relations counseling.

He is the author of numerous articles about labor and employment law, and he regularly speaks at management education programs about labor and employment issues.  Mr. Klotz’s professional memberships include the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

Mr. Klotz is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1977) and Oakland University (B.A., summa cum laude, 1973).
