Overview
Josie is a rising 3L at the University of Michigan Law School, where she is a Dean's Scholar and Executive Editor for the Michigan Journal of Race & Law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Politics, cum laude, from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2018.
Josie has served as a judicial intern for Chief Justice Megan Cavanagh at the Michigan Supreme Court, where she reviewed applications for leave to appeal, analyzed the procedural history and legal issues presented in each case, and drafted memoranda recommending whether the Chief Justice should grant or deny leave. In addition, Josie works as a Research Assistant for the Civil Rights Litigation Clearinghouse, contributing to its health care and reproductive rights special project, and is an active member of Michigan Law's Health Law Organization.
Prior to law school, Josie served as a member of AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) in South Central Los Angeles and spent five years working in the nonprofit and tech sectors in Southern California and Washington, DC.
Outside of law school, Josie is a lifelong equestrian who also enjoys hot yoga and spending time with her dog.
