Matt Lavin is a Shareholder practicing in Butzel Long’s Washington, D.C. office. He is a litigator who represents healthcare providers and their patients, with a particular focus on behavioral health and the substance abuse treatment industry.
Prior to joining Butzel Long, Mr. Lavin spent 4 years working with one of the most successful substance abuse treatment center networks in the country. He has experience with every aspect of the treatment industry including insurance, marketing, finance, regulatory, licensing, employment and clinical matters.
Mr. Lavin’s previous background includes representing policyholders in large-scale insurance coverage litigation. His current practice involves litigation related to enforcement of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act and other claims by patients and providers seeking reimbursement for wrongly denied behavioral health and addiction treatment services. Previously, he was a partner at a Washington D.C. law firm specializing in commercial litigation.
