Kevin C. O’Malley is a Shareholder practicing in Butzel Long’s Lansing office. He concentrates his practice on banking, corporate, association/non-profit and complex commercial real estate matters.

Mr. O’Malley's banking practice encompasses loan documentation, special assets and loan workouts/recovery. He serves as general counsel for scores of Michigan corporations.

Mr. O’Malley has written numerous articles for The Michigan Society of Association Executives, Michigan Banker and other scholarly publications. He is a regular speaker for The Michigan Society of Association Executives, banks, associations and private corporations.

Mr. O’Malley is a graduate of Temple University School of Law (J.D.) and Villanova University (B.A.). He was an M.B.A. degree candidate at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. O’Malley was an adjunct professor at both Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Temple University School of Law. Mr. O’Malley is an Adjunct Instructor (Paralegal Studies) at Lansing Community College. Mr. O'Malley was both an instructor and an Investment Panel judge at The Young Entrepreneurs Academy! offered by The Michigan Chamber Foundation.

Mr. O'Malley has been admitted to practice law in the States Of Michigan, Texas and Pennsylvania.

Mr. O’Malley is a Director of The Michigan Chamber of Commerce. He served as a Director of: The Lansing Economic Development Corporation, The Lansing Tax Increment Finance Authority and The Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. He is a Trustee of Oneida Charter Township, Michigan and was a Member of The Oneida Charter Township Planning Board. Mr. O’Malley was a Commissioner of The Lansing Board of Police Commissioners and both the Vice Chairman and Treasurer of The Capital Area District Library. Mr. O’Malley was appointed to the first Board Of Directors of The Kent Funds, a wholly-owned mutual fund subsidiary of Old Kent Financial Corporation. He is a volunteer for both The Lansing City Rescue Mission and Volunteers of America.

Mr. O’Malley is both a Diamond Award Nominee and a Gavel Award Recipient from The Michigan Society of Association Executives.

Mr. O’Malley is a FAA-licensed Private Pilot who holds the United States and World Records for “Speed Over a Recognized Course in a Single Engine Piston-Powered Airplane” in a flight that he piloted from Lansing, Michigan to Evansville, Indiana, as certified by both the National Aeronautic Association and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. Mr. O’Malley currently pilots complex high-performance Gliders.
