Doaa Al-Howaishy is an Associate at Butzel Long’s Ann Arbor office. She is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law (J.D. 2017) and the University of Michigan-Dearborn (B.A. 2014). Her core areas of practice are general litigation, media law, intellectual property, and cybersecurity.
As a member of Butzel Long's Media Group, Doaa represents clients in matters involving First Amendment issues. Doaa also advises clients on issues involving the public's right of access under the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act. Additionally, Doaa advises clients on compliance with advertising laws that govern various business practices.
As a member of Butzel’s Intellectual Property Group, Doaa assists clients with acquiring copyrights and trademarks to protect their valuable intellectual property.
As a member of Butzel’s Cybersecurity Group, Doaa works with a team to effectively handle the various aspects of a cyber incident response. This includes compliance with state statutory requirements that govern the notification of a cyber incident to both the individuals affected and applicable state agencies.
During law school, Doaa was an Articles Editor for the Michigan State Law Review. She was also a student of the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute and earned a certificate in trial practice. During both the fall of 2015 and the fall of 2016, Doaa was a teaching assistant for Professor Kathleen Payne's Torts class. In the spring of 2016, Doaa was a judicial extern for Judge David W. McKeague of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
