He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the State Bar of Michigan (Council Member, Patent Section, 1975-1983; Secretary, 1980-1981; Vice-Chairman, 1981-1982; Chairman, 1982-1983), the American Bar Association, the Michigan Patent Law Association and the American Chemical Society.
Prior to joining Butzel Long, Mr. McLeod was in private practice in a firm he founded in 1976 in Lansing, Michigan, the Ian C. McLeod, P.C. He received his B.S. in Chemistry (1956) and Chemical Engineering (1958) from the University of Michigan and his L.L.B. from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1961.
