The recent earthquake/tsunami and Japan and tornadoes through much of the southern U.S. have severely impacted the supply chain in many industries, interfering with many suppliers' ability to perform their usual contractual obligations. To help NASF members understand the legal consequences when suppliers (or their customers or sub-suppliers) are unable to perform as a result of natural disasters and other extraordinary events, NASF is offering a one hour webinar on the law of "force majeure," the legal principles that determine when these extraordinary events excuse the supplier's obligation to perform, and the steps that suppliers must take to protect their rights and minimize the risks and adverse consequences when a force majeure event occurs.
The webinar will be led by Sheldon Klein, co-chair of Butzel Long's Global Automotive practice. Mr. Klein advises many of the leading suppliers in the automotive and other manufacturing industries on supply chain issues and regularly speaks on those issues. Butzel Long is a leading advisor to automotive supplier companies, including more than 75% of the 25 largest North American automotive suppliers.
