Former Partners of Piliero Goldstein, LLP, Robert D. Piliero, Edward J. Goldstein and Richard B. Brosnick Join Firm's Rapidly Expanding New York Office as Shareholders

New York, NYRobert D. Piliero, Edward J. Goldstein and Richard B. Brosnick, former partners of Piliero Goldstein, LLP, have joined the rapidly expanding New York office of Butzel Long. All elected as shareholders, Messrs. Piliero and Brosnick are commercial litigators and Mr. Goldstein is a corporate and transactional attorney.

Mr. Piliero focuses his practice on commercial litigation and the representation of corporate and individual clients. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in both the prosecution and defense of mid-sized and large companies in state and federal courts and in arbitration tribunals both domestically and abroad. Mr. Piliero is actively engaged in a number of matters arising out of the turmoil in the credit markets, and is consistently involved in high-stakes litigation and arbitration over the ownership and control of businesses, the failure of asset and stock purchases, the employment and compensation of corporate officials, ownership and use of trademarks and other intellectual property, allegations of antitrust violations, and the enforceability of D&O policies. He also conducts client seminars and advises domestic and multinational clients with respect to distribution, employment, trade regulation, franchising and other matters.

A graduate of the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Piliero received a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as editor-in-chief of "Law and Policy in International Business." He is admitted to practice in the States of New York and New Jersey, in federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States, and before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Goldstein focuses his practice on the representation of U.S. and foreign-based clients in all facets of commercial transactions, antitrust and trade regulation matters. Over the course of his career, he has served in general counsel positions for Fortune 50 corporations, Philips Electronics North America Corp. and GTE Corporation (now Verizon). He counsels clients in regard to commercial problems, including sales, pricing and marketing issues in a wide variety of distribution settings. He also has extensive merger and acquisitions experience. Mr. Goldstein conducts client seminars in a variety of distribution law areas.

Mr. Goldstein graduated from Boston University's School of Management and School of Law dual-degree program, and was elected to the University's Scarlet Key Honor Society in his junior year. He is admitted to practice in the States of Massachusetts and New York, is a member of the American Bar Association and Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Mr. Brosnick has represented a broad range of clients in a variety of commercial litigations in federal and state courts and in arbitration tribunals, including successful representations regarding claims of alleged antitrust violations, securities fraud, breach of contract, and infringement of intellectual property rights. Prior to joining Piliero Goldstein Kogan & Miller, he served in positions at Chadbourne & Parke LLP, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Heller Ehrman LLP.

A graduate of Columbia University, Mr. Brosnick received a J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the New York University School of Law, where he served as an articles and notes editor of the "Journal for International Law and Politics" and as intern for the Brennan Center of Justice. He is admitted to practice in the States of New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia, as well as several federal courts.
