Business and commercial litigation attorney Jonathan F. Jorissen joins Butzel Long

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – Jonathan F. Jorissen, a business and commercial litigation attorney, has joined Butzel Long law firm.

Mr. Jorissen is an associate practicing in Butzel Long's Bloomfield Hills office. Prior to joining Butzel Long, Mr. Jorissen served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff at the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan and as an extern for the Honorable Judge Stanley Latreille at the 44th Circuit Court in Howell.

Before commencing his legal career, Mr. Jorissen worked in the Student Activities Office of the University of Notre Dame as program coordinator for the Legends of Notre Dame and served as an alumni volunteer at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School where he taught English, Social Justice, and Philosophy.

Mr. Jorissen published a Note, "Katrina's House: The Constitutionality of the Forced Removal of Citizens from Their Homes in the Wake of Natural Disasters," 5 Ave Maria L. Rev. 587 (2007).

Mr. Jorissen is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Mr. Jorissen is a graduate Ave Maria School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2007) where he served as executive notes editor for the Law Review (2006–2007) and worked as a research assistant. He was a recipient of the St. Thomas More Full-Tuition Academic Scholarship.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, (B.A., cum laude, 2002) where he was recognized as a Notre Dame Scholar and received the Irish Clover & Student Leadership Awards. He served as chief of staff for the Office of the Student Body President and Junior Class President.
