Lex Mundi

Butzel Long was an early leader in recognizing that more and more of our clients are expanding in markets across the country and around the world. In response to their increasing need for legal counseling in these new markets, Butzel Long helped form a global association of independent law firms known as Lex Mundi (Lex Mundi is Latin for "World Law"). Today, Lex Mundi is the world's largest association of independent law firms consisting of 160 firms in 100 countries. Butzel Long is the sole Michigan member of Lex Mundi.

Member firms are chosen on the basis of stature, reputation in the legal and business community, and technical excellence. The purpose of Lex Mundi is to provide an organization for the professional exchange of information about the local and global practice and development of law. In addition, the organization directs communications among its members, which improves their ability to serve the needs of their individual clients.

As a member of Lex Mundi, Butzel Long has immediate access to attorneys and facilities in the major business centers throughout the United States and around the world. Examples of valuable initiatives by the organization include: The Lex Mundi College of Mediators, a global association of over 300 experienced lawyers specially trained to serve as mediators; the World Reports, a joint publication of Kluwer Law and Taxation and Lex Mundi which provides a forum for the discussion of professional and substantive legal developments across the world; and the Advice and Facilities policy, allowing attorneys in Lex Mundi firms access to information from other member firms almost anywhere in the world.
